• eBay is open to adopting new trends, says Jamie Iannone, CEO of eBay.
  • With around 185 million active customers, eBay is one of the largest e-commerce players globally.
  • NFT transactions are already taking place on eBay, but the company wants to simplify it.

Finally, some good news is coming from one of the iconic e-commerce players on the global front. eBay, the e-commerce giant, is looking to integrate crypto payment options to their customers. Along with crypto payment options, there is also the possibility of eBay introducing non-fungible tokens on its platform.

Interview with CNBC

While giving an interview to CNBC, Jamie Iannone said that the company is seriously looking at offering payment options like crypto. He further added that the e-commerce behemoth is looking to enable non-fungible tokens on eBay. The aim would be to make it easy for everyone to access NFTs via the eBay platform.

Talking about eBay open to adopting new technologies, he said:

“One of the great things about eBay is when there’s a new trend, it just shows up on eBay. That’s what we’re seeing in areas like NFT, which we’re looking at how can we explore that better.”

As for NFTs, Jamie told the interviewer that NFT-related transactions were already taking place on their platform. But eBay now wants to simplify the process for NFT buyers and sellers. Many sellers have used eBay to sell Bitcoins without any authorization from the platform.

eBay’s Tryst With Crypto Space

The news about eBay accepting crypto payments is not new. eBay executives have been flirting with the idea for the last couple of years now.

Almost three years ago, eBay’s senior vice president had said that they are looking into BTC to integrate it as a payment option on their platform. It would be a huge win for the crypto world if an e-commerce platform like eBay, with almost 185 million active buyers starts accepting crypto payments.
